Ran one of the most successful retail stores in the company. I also oversaw the running of 3 other Edinburgh stores. Beginning in 1999, I regularly managed the majority of the Edinburgh estate and was involved in numerous high profile projects, notably including operations for the first Apple iPhone launch. During my time as Store Leader, I led and developed countless individuals and thrive on the success of others. As this passion grew, I left to seek a university degree in Business Management, ultimately returning to the business with an expanded set of skills and fresh approaches to the same role. My team would consistently deliver incredible results, meeting 100% of targets every quarter, and regularly maximising bonus payments by achieving 120% of targets across all KPIs. Not only were my efforts recognised by other areas of the business, but the stores excellence was proven through returning trade, customer recommendations to friends and colleagues, and superb feedback obtained through the companies text message surveys. I regularly looked after the Region of 28 stores in my Regional Leaders absence.

As an advocate of the ongoing cultural change within the company, I was responsible for delivering this to hundreds of employees from sales advisors through to regional managers across Scotland, North-East England and Northern Ireland. I organised every aspect of a series of two-day workshops detailing the need for change, company objectives and implementation as well as leading regional managers through a 14 week embedding program following the workshops. My time in this role reinforced that learning and development is where my heart lies, and the success of organisations is firmly reliant on having a structured program for its employees.

Reporting directly to the territory leader, I pulled on all of my experience and diverse array of skills to support regional leaders in delivering a world-class customer experience in our stores. The key objective for this role was to achieve the company goal of 'Winning and Keeping Customers Brilliantly'. This mainly involved introducing Store Leaders to a variety of coaching tools and strategic plans in order to gain consistency across all business objectives and KPIs. In an increasingly digital age, where commerce is moving online, it is important for us to give customers a reason to visit a store, and deal with a real person. In this case, it means delivering a service which is unparalleled by any other retailer on the high street—the best way to do so is by identifying opportunities through great conversations with our customers.

During this time I gained a degree and a vast amount of knowledge. I took courses including emerging markets, international business, operations management, corporate risk, business and management challenges and direct & digital marketing. In one of my projects, I worked in a small team to create a strategic marketing campaign for pay as you go services which was utilised by telecommunications brand T-Mobile with a project budget of approximately £5m. My time at university helped me to understand the ever-changing needs of businesses in our digital and modern economic climate.

Set up of Commercial property developments for the rental market.

Managed a vibrant and long established restaurant and night club in Edinburgh, boasting an annual turnover of circa £2.5m. I reported to the company directors, and was responsible for a team of over 70 employees, including 18 department managers. I oversaw purchasing, pricing, wages, budgets and business strategy.
