(During my Ph.D. years) managed the application and software development environment for Stanford University's UNIX workstation network located in the Sweet Hall. Designed and maintained a consistent user environment across four different platforms, DEC, IBM, NexT, and SUN. Performed numerous software builds, ports, bug fixes, and coded automation subsystems. Supported 40K+ users together with two other system programmers.The first member of Stanford Unversity's storied "Sweet Hallers" - a group of 10 top student developers who helped Stanford maintain the University's campus-wide computing facility and network during the period 1990 - 1994. All Sweet Hallers went on either to start significant startups or to become early and key employees of famous companies such as Google, Yahoo!, and Sumitomo.Authored the X386 Timing Guide, which is distributed with the MIT X11R5 X Window release, and was part of all free UNIX/Linux OS distributions. It's also a precursor to many today's popular HOWTO docs in the free/open source movement.
