I am Farid Ahmed, a journalist based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Over my extensive career in journalism, I've developed a versatile skill set encompassing reporting, photography, copy editing, and picture editing. Currently, I serve as the Deputy Editor at New Age, a prominent national English-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.In my journalism career, I've embraced diverse roles as a reporter and photographer for numerous local and international media organisations.In Bangladesh, I have worked for The Daily Star and The Independent. Additionally, I served as a stringer for CNN International for approximately eight years. I also represented Bangladesh as a correspondent for India-based Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) and Japan's Jiji Press.I also contribute to esteemed platforms such as the global news service Inter-Press Service (IPS) and the photo agency iStock by Getty Images. My journalistic odyssey began during my sophomore year while pursuing a degree in English Literature at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh. To further enhance my professional skills, I completed a post-graduate diploma in Newspaper Journalism at the International Institute for Journalism in Berlin under a scholarship programme offered by the German government.
