As my career has progressed and having been exposed to safety concerns in the delivery of healthcare, I have broadened my knowledge in patient safety, safety management and improvement initiatives. Having completed a Masters qualification in Patient Safety (Imperial College London, 2021) my areas of interest are the principles of safety-II (learning from what goes right in healthcare) and resilience engineering. I am committed to working with stakeholders to influence the work of safety in healthcare organisations and believe that it is critical to ensure frameworks, tools and processes are developed to measure the impact of the work and the involvement of stakeholders in that process. This encompasses the values of having good leadership and an open and transparent culture to foster and encourage innovative thinking. This will enable organisations to generate evidence and intelligence to support its efforts to improve and maintain safety standards for healthcare and for members of the public.
