I have been working for the last 16 years on custom solutions development. During this time I had the opportunity to work on different projects with different technologies, had the opportunity to witness the advent of groundbreaking technologies, see them getting mature and broad adopted.I am a technology aficionado, I am always eager to learn new technologies, design patterns, architecture principles, and to test them and put them to work on real case scenarios. Some things look perfect on paper but don't deliver as expected in real life, so the architect has to try and test to really understand what new technologies can do and the best scenarios for each one.There are no silver bullet in software architecture, old and new technologies can work together, and some old technologies can still be the best choice for some use cases. I believe that the great solution architect has to always look at the use case that he has on hand, the technologies that he has available, the pros and cons of each approach, and based on that he creates the best solution possible.
