Intern
CurrentNJPIRG is a student activist organization at Rutgers University that works to protect the environment, make college more affordable, and promote civic engagement. Throughout the years NJPIRG has helped improve student life by starting the free textbook program that has saved students over 4 million dollars in textbooks, as well as helping students register to vote in elections. As an intern with NJPIRG, I have been primarily tasked with working on the plastics campaign, which consisted of campaigning to ban single use plastics in Rutgers Dining services. Other campaigns that I have worked on as an intern include the textbooks campaign, which works to make textbooks more affordable to students, as well as the climate change campaign. During this period, the work I have been tasked as an intern include- Hosting tabling events to educate Rutgers students about NJPIRG campaigns- Developing winning campaign strategies and tactics - working to get NJPIRG campaigns covered by the media through new releases, “op-eds,” online webinars, etc.-attending weekly skills workshops
