During my research project, I created a framework to analyse semi-structured interviews. I used directed content analysis to discover the ways in which acceptance and commitment therapy processes were experinced by breast cancer survivors. I used NVivo to analyse transcripts and keep a record of themes. This project involved liasing with a multi-disciplinary team to gain feedback and ensure the analysis was coherent. This project is currently in the review process prior to being submitted to the journal of contextual behaviour science.

My role was to help get a systematic review ready for publication. I was involved in screening papers for inclusion, extracting information, formulating tables and resolving formatting issues. I worked closely with other team members and gave regular updates which improved my commjunication skills. This role also improved my time-management skills as I had to balance this role with the workload from my MSc. This paper is currently in press and I am a co-author.

I created an informational tool for those with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which explained why those with IBD may experience pain both in remission and duing active disease. In order to create the most useful tool I review evidence from qualitative research being conducted in the Health Psychology section and conducted a literature review on pain mechanisms in IBD to inform the development of models explaining pain in IBD and the rest of the information included. I worled with a multi-disciplinary team to refine the tool, ensuring that the information was accurate, clear and concise. I then hosted two public and patient invilvement (PPI) workshops to gather patient feedback. I made final amendments to the tool. Next steps would include making the tool into a website or app to make it more user-friendly, however, time and resources permitted this.
