I am responsible for working with the technicians and tutors to develop the methods used in the required practicals. I also make standardised resources for the department to use to ensure there is a uniform approach by all tutors in the department so we can award our students with practical endorsement. As well as working with Head of Biology to ensure the management of the Practical Endorsement is effective, by using the tracking system and ensuring that all relevant Biology staff are trained in its use and regularly track their students’ progress. As well met with the exam boards verifier to discuss how we run and assess practical competencies and to respond to their feedback to always develop and improve the delivery and assessment of practical skills.

During my time here I have taught A level Biology and Applied science as well as the Applied General Applied Science.

As a lesson observer of part of the Core Observation Group my role is to organise and schedule approximately 20 observations from September to Easter. I observe lessons and give feedback on teaching and learning as well has discuss aspects of teaching that tutors feel they want to develop and work on and helping them work on an action plan. I also attend regular meetings with the rest of the COG group and undertake standardization and moderation of observations to ensure that quality assurance procedures are met.

I was responsible for assessment and internal verification of all units completed on the QCF Applied science BTEC and ensuring that assessments were fit for purpose and that they meet regulatory requirements.

I was responsible for writing and updating the SoW and making common homework and tests.

I started my teaching career at SEEVIC college (now called USP). Where I was employed to teach L3 BTEC Applied Science and A Level Biology. The following year I was put on to teach A level Applied Science as well. Then in 2014 the college started L3 BTEC in Animal Management, which I also taught on.
