Backend Engineer on the Yahoo video team.- Maintained Node.js backend system for serving video metadata.- Worked with a small team to create the Yahoo Video Guide app. Helped design, architect and write the backend for ingesting, storing, and searching the metadata. Additionally: created a cache in our node.js serving layer decreasing latency by 90% under heavy traffic. Integrated natural language processing into the search backend for more accurate results. Designed and wrote the notifications system for Video Guide. (Mostly Node.js work.)- Served as engineering lead for a team creating a video recommendation and ranking system. The system ingests video metadata and a firehose of telemetry events to extract salient user and video features, which are used to train a ranking model integrated into our search backend.
