Engineering Futures Facilitator
For more than a decade, I volunteered as an Engineering Futures Facilitator for Tau Beta Pi, The National Engineering Honor Society. In this capacity, I travelled the country to facilitate leadership seminars for college students on topics seldom formally taught, including people skills, team chartering, analytical problem solving, and effective presentation skills. More information about the program is available at the link provided below (or directly at http://www.tbp.org/memb/EF.cfm).
Product Manager
Instrumental in efforts to establish an Organic Light Emitting Diode pilot production line for next generation of lighting. As an integral member of the leadership team:* Engaged with foreign partner for the specification and design of multi-million dollar equipment to enable high through-put manufacturing of OLED panels* Led efforts to develop OLED panel specifications for product launch, using voice of customer feedback to identify crucial design parameters* Innovated, prototyped, and transferred to manufacturing a one-of-a-kind solid state lighting product based on LED chip-on-board technology and thermally conductive plastics, leading to patent filing* Led efforts to establish synergistic relationships with partners leading to new product concepts, sales/marketing channels, and product component design and manufacture* Collaborated with international team members and partners to cost down products and components and ensure quality manufacturing and assembly* Well versed in all aspects of solid state lighting technologies (LED and OLED)
Development Engineer
During my first two years at Kodak, I was a member of Kodak's elite Image Science Career Development Program, a rotational program designed to expose new college graduates to the various areas of the company, as well as to instill a strong, fundamental knowledge of imaging science from experts in the field. The first rotation of the ISCD program was as an image scientist with Engineering Physics Lab at Kodak, working on a revolutionary digital laser printer for custom lenticular prints. The printer was capable of creating multi-image, video, or 3-dimensional content, and as a team member I learned about all aspects of the system, from the mechanical design of an encoded transport and align system to the impact of laser spot size on image quality and adjacent frame ghosting. The second rotation of the ISCD program was as an embedded system developer in the Entertainment Imaging group at Kodak. Using state-of-the-art rapid prototyping systems (Annapolis Micro Systems), I was instrumental in developing a high-speed video compression solution based on MPEG. Having successfully completed the project, I was extended an offer to join the team permanently to lead technical efforts for their digital motion picture capture system. As part of this effort, I was instrumental in the development of image science algorithms to apply Kodak's unique "film-look" and high-end, real-time compression of image data for instantaneou display and storage. Seeking new challenges, I joined the OLED team at Kodak. The OLED technology was relatively nascent at the time, and many technological challenges were being addressed. Initially tasked with developing a high-precision monitoring system for OLED degradation, both at a pixel level and a display level, I eventually became the leading expert in fade mechanisms and compensation algorithms - 10+ patents filed.
