Entrepreneur & former banker. Born in NY and educated by the jesuits in Madrid and then Georgetown University, with strong roots and very much from Cantabria, Spain. Co-Founder & Partner of Stoneshield, a European focused long-term investment group that aims to support great businesses across different industries and through the capital structure. At Stoneshield we believe that assets are just part of the equation. The key for us is finding great management teams and entrepreneurs that have the drive to create community conscious companies, create employment and serve our customers with dedication and care. We operate in several industries including Student Housing, Digital Asset Infrastructure, Life Science Ecosystems, Finance Platforms or Living Platforms amongst others. For this purpose, we count with the support of Institutional investors from North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia. We employ over 1,300 people across our companies.I spent 10 years at UBS Investment Bank and then at Lone Star, where we worked and partnered closely with a number of banks and other financial institutions.In 2009 I co-founded Empieza por Educar, a sister organization of Teach for America, in which I am a trustee and whose mission is to promote equal opportunities in education. Additionally, since 2014, I have supported the Reina Sofia School of Music, which supports with full scholarships the most talented musicians from around the world and brings the best music to all audiences.Fan of hikes and outdoor sports, where I (barely) follow my wife Julia’s footsteps. I enjoy nature together with reading history, finance and anything relevant on world affairs. And enjoy watching streamers play video games I no longer have the time to play.
