I qualified in ITIL in 1993 and for the past 23 years have been involved, in one way or another, in implementing, delivering or teaching IT Service Management best practice. My approach is based on an expert level of knowledge in a wide range of best practice frameworks (such as ITIL, COBIT, SDI, IAITAM) combined with extensive industry experience and a practical, pragmatic, results based frame of mind.

We had a great team in the training business and I enjoyed every minute of their company.

    Recruited to implement Service Level Management, the project was sadly overtaken by events as the Somerfield acquisition of the Kwik Save business. It was a great learning experience (particularly in the area of stakeholder management!) where I met many great people - some of whom went on to achieve significant recognition and distinction in the service management industry.

    I joined the service management training unit as Service Management trainer delivering the (V1) ITIL Manager course before stepping up to take over the unit management role. These were the days when there was only one ITIL qualification (Manager) and this was obtained by attending a 2 week course and then sitting two, 3 hour, written(!) exams at a test centre in London. During the 2 weeks we covered 10 processes and one function and still struggled to fit it all in.

    My role was, primarily, to provide IDMSX expertise and consultancy to our outsourcing clients. During this time I developed and delivered a 3 day IDMSX SCL programming course which became one of Sysop's first publicly advertised courses when the training arm was established. These were the earliest days of ITIL and Sysop was one of the early adopters. I worked with many great people and my time at Sysop shaped the rest of my career and gave me many fond memories. 26 years later, I am proud to still be associated with them.
