Process planning applications for County matter development (minerals and waste) and County Council development and manage casework, including major applications and EIA applications for Hampshire County Council and Somerset County Council planning applications. This involves supporting validation and registration and leading on the consultation, evaluation, negotiation, recommendation and issuing planning decisions to meet statutory requirements and in accordance with professional best practice.

Responsibilities include advising developers on how they can meet the requirements of the local planning laws, writing and presentation of reports to the local Planning Commission on proposed development projects, input to the design of local transportation projects, and development of new planning laws. Staff Liaison for the Juneau Commission on Sustainability, an advisory group to the local Borough Assembly on sustainability issues. Assist the Commission in research and recommendations on how greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use can be reduced to the Assembly adopted target levels. Lead author of a community renewable energy strategy which aims to increase the use of local renewable energy by the community and the municipal government. As part of background data for the strategy document I updated a community and municipal operations energy inventory to collate baseline energy consumption data. Developed a public informational lecture series to raise local awareness about sustainability topics and success stories.Assisted on development of long-range planning documents (20-30 years), including public outreach and consultation with colleagues within other departments of the municipal organisation, and the State of Alaska. Part of team that set up an ‘Innovation Academy’ in the municipal organisation aimed at analysing daily work processes with the aim to simplify them to deliver services to customers quicker and at less cost. Techniques used included LEAN, Six Sigma, and Nudge theory.

Organized the movement of high volumes of passengers from cruise ship to tour dock. This required providing clear communication to colleagues both face-to-face and via radio. Position required high level of attention to detail during stressful conditions whilst remaining composed and maintaining detailed, minute by minute and daily records.
