While working at the Mycobacterial metabolism and Antibiotic Research Lab lead Carvalho Lab, I built a library of mycobacterial species with the goal of harnessing knowledge from their biological diversity. I focused on screening antitubercular drugs against this library and studied what are the novel mechanisms of antibiotic resistance that are naturally occurring in these species.

Caring for patients and good practices to ensure sample quality.- Biochemistry: laboratorial dosage, using automated methods, to determine the biochemical parameters of blood, urine and other biological fluids. - Haematology: automated analysis of haematological parameters, blood smear and differential analysis of cells in the blood slide, coagulations tests and sickle cell test.- Microbiology: microscopic and bacteriologic analysis of microbiological sample and culture. Analysis made form urine, blood, faeces, hair and other biological fluids.- Parasitology: macroscopic and microscopic evaluation of stool samples using routine techniques to identify the presence of parasites.- Urinalysis: perform the urine quality exam through physical and chemical analysis, as well as sediment microscopy.- Immunology: laboratorial dosage of immunological importance, using automated and manual methods, from blood, urine and other body fluids.- Quality Control: all activities related to analytical and non-analytical procedures throughout the laboratory.
