In charge of the Ferrous Competitiveness & Operational Performance area we're engaged to leading the Global Asset Monitoring Center that is responsible to support the decision-making process on Iron Ore Value Chain, based on asset performance and health information.Challenging the status quo using Advanced Analysis techniques such as Statistical and Probabilistic models, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Stochastic Simulation and Global Benchmarking as a data driven strategy and being part of Vale's lever to become a reliable operator.
Centre Of Excellence Manager
I was in charge of the Competitiveness and Performance area that has been responsible to drive the Centre of Excellence actions based on an integrated vision of the iron ore chain.During this period, in order to achieve this goal, we’ve developed some important solutions that challenge the status quo using Advanced Analysis techniques and global benchmarking in order to achieve new levels of value chain performance and productivity, Such as:- Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to predict the moisture content values of the ore to be shipped, providing greater previsibility in the shipment planning process, respecting the safety and TML criteria;- Development of process simulations to support the analysis of bottlenecks and production capacity of the whole stages of the value chain (mine, plant, railroad and port). Solutions that supported more than $ 250 million disinvestment decision.- Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to predict the behavior of capacity assumptions, allowing the identification of bottlenecks and risks of non-compliance with the production program, supporting and driving engineering to act proactivily to figure out how to mitigate the risk.- Implementation of a systematic process for identifying asset performance gaps based on internal, external and potential benchmark references.- Defined a program focused on workforce productivity, using agile methodology, we defined several squads each one with specific focus such as on reStructuring and Maintenance Planning, Robotization of Activities, Workforce ZBB, external benchmarking, laboratory automation and shifts optimization.- Development of Asset Monitoring Center (CMA) concept that shall be implemented in overall Ferrous Department (Mine to Port). Focused on supporting the asset management decision process based on asset health. In order to integrate the whole horizons of decisions we defined two layers: Global CMA and Local CMA
Senior Engineering Leader
- Led the Port Engineering Area supplying techincal solutions to Vale Ports in Vitoria (Brazil), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Teluk Rubiah (Malaysia) and Nacala (Mozambique).- Responsible to define the operational performance assumptions (OEE) that are considered for capacity plan of the terminals in short, medium and long term.- Responsible to define the automation project's roadmap focused on cost reduction and improvements in productivity and safety aspects.- Responsible to define and optimise the port terminal asset maintenance strategy focused on reliability maximization and cost reduction.- Responsible to implement the Fully Automatic Solution for StockYard Machines at Teluk Rubiah Terminal in Malaysia, where all the the Stackers and Reclaimers, total of six, are operated remotely by only one operator at the centre control room. As an outcome, we achieved a total of improvement around 9% in productivity that bring up the terminal's capacity.- Led a multifunctional team to define the Digital Transformations roadmap for all Vale’s Ports, aimed to improve the asset performance management, addressing the cultural mindset change.
Railroad Signalling And Operations Engineering Manager
- Led a team of over 30 experts in operation and railway signaling, who were constantly aiming to research cutting edge technologies that could be applied to improve operations performance in terms of safety, productivity and cost.- Responsible for people management: recruiting, training, people allocation, performance assessment and keep right engagement level.- Responsible for defining the operational performance assumptions that are considered for railroad's transport capacity plan in short, medium and long term.- Responsible for technical acceptance of signaling system in Vale’s big expansion project like S11D (Duplication line of Carajás Railroad) and line of Nacala in Mozambique.- Adapted the R&D portfolio of operation and signaling to achieving reduction of investment around of USD10MM, due to the economic crisis, keeping focus on the main business.- In charge of maintenance strategy definition for signaling assets (OCC, TCC, Telecom, OBC, Track Circuit, SM, EPTs, etc) focused in cost and reliability.
Port Automation Engineering Manager
- Led a team with more than 25 specialist engineers responsible for identifying new opportunities for application of automation technology in port processes, focused on productivity, energy efficiency, cost and safety.- Accomplished during the period that stayed on this position the best level (5) of result on the Balanced Scorecard of the department, through the team and kept the high level of team motivation. - Managed the definition process of project portfolio for each terminal, supported by the Strategic Plan for Automation that represented investment about USD 50MM in last years. - Established a new technological level to the Ports of Vale with projects like: Remote and Full Automatic Operation of Stock Yard Machines (Stacker and Reclaimers) that overcame at least 10% of productivity improvement. Optmized the conveyor belt system with a innovative way to started (Reverse Route), reached about 8% of productivity improvement on the loading circuit of General Cargo Terminal. Automation the openning of Wagons in the Grain Terminal that allowed to reduced about 40 FTE in the operation contract.- In charge of definition the engineering standard that shall be considered in development of automation projects globally. (Brown Field and Green Field – Brazil, Mozambique e Malaysia)- Responsible for maintenance strategy definition for automation assets focused in cost and reliability. (field instrumentation, field network, PLC, switchs, sensors, CCTV, radios, radar, laser, servers, softwares, data base, data center, HMI, OCC, etc)
Railroad Automation Engineer
