Within the EURASHE secretariat, my work focusses primarily on quality assurance of higher education, recognition and integration of refugees and other vulnerable groups. Moreover, I am also responsible for several EU-funded projects and coordinating EURASHE’s working group on quality of higher education.

Consultant / adviser in education and education policies both in Spain and at European level.

I have been member of the governance bodies of the European Higher Education Area / Bologna Process, and different experts’ groups of the European Union, Council of Europe, UNESCO and OECD among others. Moreover, I was also responsible for coordinating the lobby work of the organisation. I have contributed to important European level policy positions in the field of higher education, such as the Bucharest & Yerevan European Higher Education Area Ministerial Communiqués, the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the Higher Education Area (ESG 2015), the new Erasmus+ programme and other EU initiatives, as well as UNESCO's & Council of Europe's work on recognition of qualifications.My work has been mostly on social and academic affairs, focusing on:- democracy, human rights, active citizenship and equality;- on the fields of student-centred learning, online education, rankings, recognition and quality assurance. As vice-president, aside of the policy work, I was also responsible for the office in Brussels and the internal management of the organisation. I have been responsible for the human resources and the financies of the organisation, becoming familiar with the Belgian legal framework. Moreover, I have also been in charge of the management of various projects with sizeable funding from the European Union and other donors.

I have been an external evaluator of quality assurance of higher education for ANECA (the national quality assurance agency of Spain) in several of its programmes:- Institutional Evaluation Programme- DOCENTIA Programme- VERIFICA Programme (Health Sciences Committee)Within this framework I have also collaborated in evaluation activities in cooperation with other Spanish quality assurance agencies.
