Arqus activities are developed according to three fundamental university missions: Education, Research, Societal mission. Arqus structure foresees three policy-making bodies – Action Lines – corresponding to those fundamental missions. Arqus Action Lines are formed by grouping activities (Work Packages) established in Arqus Action plan 2022-2026 into corresponding areas. Action Lines are governed by Action Line Boards. Boards consist of policy-making level representatives (vice-rectors) of corresponding areas at partner institutions. Action Line Boards aim to bring together highest-level decision makers in partner institutions to solve strategic challenges and oversee institutional implementation of actions, developed in Arqus Work Packages.

EUA establishes working groups, steering committees and task forces to guide its initiatives in specific areas where high-level expertise is needed. These include research and innovation policy, doctoral education, learning and teaching and digital transformation.

Coordinator of the TPG ")Development and strategic benefits of learning and teaching centres". The European University Association (EUA) aims to draw attention to its importance in European higher education and invite EUA member universities to exchange practices and discuss key considerations. To do this, EUA coordinates Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups that provide participating universities with an opportunity for peer learning and exchange of experiences, while at the same time contributing to the Association’s policy work on learning and teaching, e.g. in the context of the Bologna Process. The groups’ work also feeds into EUA’s yearly European Learning & Teaching Forum.

Coordinates the Unit of Medical Education since January 2004 at the School of Health Sciences. Is responsible for monitoring the educational quality of undegraduate medical education, for faculty development and for research in medical education. Director of the Longitudinal Study of alumni competences (SHS-Uminho).Coordinator of the Simulation Center for Scienctific Skills.Has education as main scientific interest since the year 2000.
