As Consultant, I continue to deliver external audits for UKAS Assessing Bodies and internal audits for a number of clients on a long term or short-term arrangements. The following Business Sectors are catered for: Car Dealerships Telecoms and IT, Software Development, Lighting & Electrical including equipment design & manufacturing, Cleaning Services including laundry and domestic, Education & Training, Local Authority Administration, Emergency Services, Business and Professional Services (i.e. Architectural, Law and Consulting), Medical and Related Services (The activities range from Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Occupational Health, Dementia Care and Health Screening services), Business to Business.CPD (Continual Professional Development) is maintained with at least 20 days of visits being delivered in each sector or and re-test of the appropriate competency exam. My journey in quality management started in the early 1990s when I worked for Motorola Telco. Currently, I serve as an Associate Auditor at BSI (British Standards Institution), the world's largest certification assessment body, where I perform Quality, Security and Telecom management system audits.I started by assessing security standards externally for the Home Office SIA scheme, then moved on to quality and product safety evaluations, such as the OFCOM Total Metering and Billing Directive, which ensures that Communications Providers (CPs) uphold the public's trust in accurate billing.My assessment scopes include transferring certificates from other UKAS Assessing Bodies, initial reviews, ongoing surveillance audits, re-certification audits, gap analysis, and pre-certification audits. I stay up-to-date with industry standards (EAC/NAICE) to be able to work across a variety of business sectors, including local government, central government, police and emergency services, IT and telecoms, software and digital forensics, crime scene forensics, data centres and secure processing facilities, business-to-business, retail and production facilities, testing labs, research and development environments, science labs, security, care homes, hospitals, and clinical settings.I am always open to new opportunities in the quality and security landscape.

My main function in this voluntary position was to review policies, procedures, National Occupational Standards (NOC) for the Door Supervision and Leisure Sector. Skills for Security also collaborated with other stakeholders including the Security Industry Authority, British Standards (BSI) and The City of London Police (Project Griffin) who are responsible for Counter Terrorism Awareness in the commercial sector.

The main responsibility as an Assessor is to review the effectiveness of a Quality Management System (QMS) or ACS (Security )Management System. This includes policy, communication, objectives and performance of the key scope of activities. In addition, other audit activities include transfer certifications from another assessing bodies and ensuring UKAS / ANAB requirements are maintained and GAP analysis. It is not unusual for Auditors to interview a cross-representation of staff including Top Management and CEO’s to ascertain commitment to maintaining the QMS. It is also important that client expectations are effectively managed during any audit process so that any findings provided at the end of the engagement are agreed and not a surprise. This also includes planning of future visits and reviewing past reports. It is the Auditors responsibility (as a consultant) to maintained CPD; hence, this takes form in many ways from discussion groups, external training and mentoring of other Auditors.

Supervised and delivered security training for 1000+ staff and delegates. This includes SIA, Local Authority, Health & Safety and Conflict Management Managed the transition from local authority recognised security training to National SIA qualifications for the company in addition to the rapid growth of the business. Adopted and implemented team-building exercises.Implemented regional contracts for security services across the South of England; from Devon to Kent and utilising 450+ staffInvolved in government initiatives at Parliament to assist in the implementation of the (then new) legislation in the security industry; PSIA 2001. Implemented and acknowledged as the first security seizure company to obtain ISO 9001 in 1999 and awarded certification by CCAS.Managed Area and Town Supervisors.Developed Health & Safety, ISO 9001 procedures. These have now been adopted in many security companies today.
