Development of new suppliers, quality follow-up of current suppliers, improvement of suppliers’ processes and development of new components based on engineering needs, Global Sourcing and Milk-run.Working in the areas of copper and aluminum rods, enameled and mica taped copper wires, injected plastic parts in PP, PBT, PA and different blends, electrical terminals and lugs, switches, wire harnesses, power cords and others. Analyses of international commodities market, mainly for copper and aluminum to develop management report as a tool for decision making in hedge strategies.Support for engineering in selecting the right component for the client needs.Negotiation of procurement contracts and strategic partnerships, considering deadlines, quantities, imports and costs.Support to other units of the Group (Mexico, China etc) in the aforesaid areas.Classification development and material definition for SAP.Development of comparison routines for exported material to SAP from BaaN. Evaluation of supplier’s quality levels, responsible for the follow-up of internal and in clients non-conformities.Responsible for all types of connectors and terminals, as a components for clients and productive processes in the assembly line.Implementation and coordination of RoHS compliant components.Responsible for engineered injected plastics, including development of high and low temperature blends (-40oC up to 200oC), electricity conduction plastics etc.Main achievements:Lead-time improvement in copper rods from 7 to 1 day with USD 50 less per metric ton.Strategic partnership for wire harnesses, lowering costs in 30% (USD 1 million/year) and non-conformities lower than 100 PPM (from 800 PPM) in materials receiving. Complete substitution of terminals, presses and tooling resulting in USD 300,000/year savings and drastically lowering quality issues in crimping.Checking of more the 300,000 components from the old ERP (BaaN) to the new database of SAP.
