Project involved the characterisation and study of Bi2CoO2F4.Evaluation of LiSr2Nb3O10 conducted as a side project – I was taught how to prepare samples (topochemically and solid state), operate the Rigaku machine and compare the results with RbSr2Nb3O10 and KSr2Nb3O10. XRFs and purity analysed via TOPAS and HighScore respectively. Made a great personal impact on the research e.g. suggesting XANES analysis on Bi2CoO2F4 to check the cobalt oxidation state and help determine the O:F ratio – went to Diamond Light Source to obtain the data. Developed independence and problem solving skills, coming up with useful suggestions for my supervisors. Prepared and conducted presentations of the findings, summarising the aim, experiment, and results.
