Inclusive Growth & Climate Change Consultant

China Working Group Member - Responsible For Climate & Environment

In 2022 I was invited to join the Labour Party Foreign Policy Group's China Working Group due to my environmental knowledge and understanding of this topic within the Chinese context. I am responsible for the group's Environment and Climate policy briefings, which are distributed among parliamentarians and government ministers. Now that that Labour has formed a government as of July 2024, my work has grown from only forming policy, to now assessing current policy in relation to Anglo-Sino co-operation. Currently, I am organising an Westminster event focusing on defining the extent of Chinese involvement and investment for the recently-confirmed National Wealth Fund.I also manage the group's COP policy briefings, and adapt them for in-person events in Westminster and at the University of Oxford. These events have been hosted by the Minister for Asia and the Pacific and are attended by MPs, external affairs experts, and researchers.

Climate-Smart Agriculture Investments Intern

Yerevan, Armenia

Led an independent research project on the current state of CSA within Armenia and which geographical areas, technologies and techniques should be prioritised for strategic public/private sector investment. The report I author as part of this internship was presented to ADB leadership and will be used to secure additional environmental/agricultural funding.Armenia is a particularly fascinating area for this research due to its high climatic variation, vulnerability to climate change, and post-Soviet agricultural sector, which is currently in decline. My final report included approaches to utilise the unique attributes of Armenia's agricultural sector and geography for improved productivity, revenue, and resilience, including:-Crop-livestock integration beyond the farm level-Methods of standardising crop production across smallholder plots-Improving smallholders' access to finance-Navigating and accessing organic export markets (focussed primarily on the EU and East Asia) -Safeguarding Armenia's thriving viticulture sector through a range of CSA interventions.

A sustainability-focussed project which aimed to understand the different challenges and opportunities faced by both start-ups and incumbent companies when entering green technology markets- with emphasis placed on the electric vehicle (EV) charger industry. Duties included forging links and interviewing senior designers/engineers/heads of companies who are in the EV industry, database creation, and collaboration with the project lead regarding interview responses, findings of note, etc.I was approached for this role by a visiting postdoctoral researcher at Jönköping University who offered me the role based on my environmental knowledge and capability when it comes to engaging and interacting with individuals from different sectors and backgrounds.
