I am proud, passionate and privileged to be working in the Scottish Tourism Industry. I work as a International Business Adviser with Scottish Development International. This means I get to work with some great ambitious Scottish Tourism companies who welcome some support to internationalise and grow their respective businesses. Tourism is a dynamic industry where, in my experience, it would appear that change is the only constant. Keeping up with current trends is therefore essential. The disruptive force of technology in the travel industry is a good example of this change with the travel industry experiencing its fair share of disruption. I really enjoy the challenge that such ‘change’ brings to my role. Just recently I’ve been helping Scottish Businesses better understand the emerging market of China . I’ve been running business briefings across Scotland sharing my knowledge in relation to Chinese visitor numbers, Chinese Culture and expectations of Chinese visitors.I’ve had a variety of roles throughout my career in Customer Services, Operations Management and Training. I would say the common thread is that I tend to naturally gravitate to Customer Facing roles.Enough about work! Out of work I WAS a keen runner. I say ‘was’ as I now have a nice new ceramic hip and my surgeon has absolutely put the kibosh on my running. He didn’t say anything about Hillwalking, cycling, fitness classes and swimming however – don’t tell! Are you working in a Scottish Tourism company and have ambitions to really grow the company internationally? If so, please get in touch.
