Currently working in Community Engagement and Events at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. In this role I work to educate the Tasmanian Community about the work of the Institute as well as thank them for their support. DREAM JOB!!Additionally, I have 15 years at sea experience with commercial fishing operations as a scientific observer. 4 years experience as an Environmental Extension Officer working in commercial fishing industry in Tasmania and 5 years working with salmon aquaculture in Tasmania.2012 Tasmanian Rural Woman of the Year and finalist in the Australian Rural Woman of the Year (2012).Skills and CompetenciesCommunication Skills and Networking• Liaise and develop strong rapport with diverse stakeholder groups including; grass-roots seafood industry, industry representative bodies, management agencies (state and federal), researchers, environmental organisations, funding bodies, local community groups, local councils and schools and NRM agencies local and national.• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking• Ability to assimilate complex technical information and explain in a manner appropriate to range of audiences• Preparation of media speaking points Public Speaking• Proficient and engaging public speaker, large & small groupsSeafood Industry knowledge • Solid understanding of Australian Seafood Industry both wild catch and Aquaculture• Specific operational experience of a number of Tasmanian fisheries (Rock Lobster, Giant Crab, Purse Seine, Bottom Trawl, Danish Seine)• Comprehensive knowledge of Salmon Aquaculture operations including social and environmental parameters• Established and extensive Australian seafood industry networkEvent Management• Experience coordinating all aspects of large events – up to 300 people – particularly fishing industry/public fora
