Coastal News Editor for a leading regional news broadcaster. Leading a team of journalists and camera operators as part a top rating local news service. Managing budgets and on the road responsibilities, as well as links with metropolitan services. Responsible for the ongoing training/ mentoring of young journalists. My other duties included managing PRIME7'S social media presence, crisis management, dealing with customer complaints, strategic planning, liaising with key stakeholders, editing scripts, recruitment and induction of new staff, policy implementation and annual staff reviews, as well as the day to day duties of producing the bulletin.

As well as managing a large team of news staff, and editorial content for the Coastal news bulletin, I presented two top rating half hour news bulletins for a leading regional broadcaster, which fed into the Northern NSW market.

I led a team of journalists, camera operators and presenters in the fast paced Gold Coast region, preparing a half hour bulletin in a very competitive market place. I used my skills in team leadership, communication and negotiation to achieve excellent results from my dedicated staff. Prime made a decision to close the newsroom late in 2000 and I was retained by the company and moved back to Tamworth to take on a newly created role as News Editor Coast.

I was employed by Prime to produce the Coastal bulletin, and to present the weekend news and nightly weather. I led a team of eight people in remote locations, from my office in Tamworth. I was also responsible for mentoring new journalists. This helped to develop my skills in remote communication, time management and budget control.

I lived in London where I worked for a leading courier company, in public and community relations, developing customer links and relationships.

The Bundaberg newsroom was closed in 1993, and I was relocated to Cairns, where I was part of a small team, breaking news for the Far North Queensland market. Working on camera, I also presented updates and news promos in the lead up to the bulletin. As part of my role I travelled extensively across the peninsula and up to Thursday Island, which helped me to develop an intimate understanding of different cultures. I learned to work quickly, to meet pre-record deadlines.

I started my Journalism career with QTV, (now Channel Ten) as Queensland entered into aggregation. which would provide regional viewers with the same viewing choice as their metropolitan counterparts. As one of two journalists based in Bundaberg, I covered breaking news across an area from Maryborough and Hervey Bay in the south, to Bundaberg in the north. Here I developed my on camera skills, and exercised the basics. When Cyclone Fran crossed the coast near 1770, in March 1992, I was in the midst of it all.
