Fiona is passionate about children’s learning and has had extensive teaching experience in large and small schools, in rural and urban areas and has taught in Malawi and the West Indies. She was a Headteacher for fourteen years before becoming a freelance educational consultant working with schools across the UK and worldwide leading a range of training in developing children’s learning and thinking. She has experience of training whole clusters or pyramids of schools, Leadership Teams and Advisory staff, and has spoken at Headteacher Conferences. Fiona was an Associate Trainer for the International Primary Curriculum and Fieldwork Education leading training for schools across the UK and in Belgium, Bratislava, China, Denmark, El Salvador, Egypt, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Malaysia, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA, and she planned and led courses at IPC Summer Schools. She was an assessor for schools seeking accreditation as a ‘Thinking School’, an initiative developed by Thinking Schools @ Exeter at the University of Exeter. Fiona is an Honorary University Fellow and worked closely with them in the school assessment and accreditation process at both primary and secondary level. She is an accredited trainer in a range of thinking tools and strategies including Growing Thinking Schools, Habits of Mind, Questioning for Enquiry, David Hyerle’s Thinking Maps and Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats® and CoRT1 Tools. Fiona has also delivered training in schools for Espresso Education, has been a school Governor and is a Godly Play storyteller, working with adults and children within the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. Fiona has excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels. She is highly motivated, has excellent organisational skills, sets high standards for herself, embraces new challenges with enthusiasm and works with dedication and integrity.
