As Group Sustainability Manager, I am responsible for the implementation of a number of work plans within our sustainability strategy including ESG Governance, climate risk, ESG communications and training, ESG Reporting (e.g. to NewERA under the Ckimate Action Framework and preparing for upcoming CSRD disclosures) and most recently, our net zero decarbonisation programme. I am also involved in work plans relating to sustainable procurement and circular economy.

As Sustainability Assurance Manager, I have developed, along with our Head of Sustainability and our Chief People & Sustainability Officer, a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the Vhi group in line with our sustainability ambition statement. I am currently working on the implementation of this strategy across various work streams including ESG reporting, governance, and decarbonisation.

As Assistant Company Secretary I support and assist the Company Secretary on all governance related activities, arrange and service Board and Committee meetings (e.g. Audit, Risk & Compliance, Reserving and Investment), liaise as required with the Central Bank and other regulators and provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors, Executive Management team and senior management on corporate governance, statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice standards. While I stepped down from the role of Diversity & Inclusion Lead in June 2021, I remain an active member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee which I heled to found. I am also a member of the Sustainability Committee on the Communications & Governance pillar.

During 2018, I was asked to lead out an initiative that would review Vhi's practices in the area of diversity and inclusion with a view to recommending appropriate and relevant actions. I took on this role in addition to my main role as Learning & Development Manager and later, Assistant Company Secretary. While we had many relevant policies and procedures already in place to support a diverse and inclusive workplace, my work built on that foundation and expanded and enhanced it in a number of ways. I helped to establish the Vhi Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, drove the design and rollout of our first Diversity and Inclusion employee survey which informed the pillars of our programme which still stand today, helped to establish a number of Employee Networks, managed the marking of key events such as Pride, International Women's Day and Mental Health Awareness Week, established the Vhi Voices Choirs, developed our Diversity & Inclusion Policy and worked with HR and our Board to approve our Inclusivity Scorecard and associated KPIs as well as embedding diversity and inclusion KRIs in our Risk Appetite Statement. I remain an active member of the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee.

As Learning & Development Manager, I was responsible for developing and implementing the Learning & Development Plan for the insurance group of companies within Vhi as well as managing the study assistance scheme and the overall training budget. I worked with managers from across the business on identifying and agreeing learning solutions and led and assisted on organisational projects from a training perspective. I managed a fantastic team of 11 Leaning & Development Specialists who delivered technical, product and development training solutions including induction training. Ensuring compliance with CPD requirements also fell within my remit including overseeing the provision of lectures and support to those completing exams under the Minimum Competency Code. During 2018 I also helped to establish the Vhi Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee and as part of this role I completed a number of benchmarking visits with other companies and drove the design and rollout of our first Diversity and Inclusion employee survey.

As Compliance Manager, I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the Vhi Compliance Function which overseas and monitors compliance at Vhi's two regulated entities, Vhi Insurance DAC (a non-life insurance undertaking which underwrites the group's health insurance business) and Vhi Healthcare Limited (a licensed retail intermediary which provides sales and policy administration for health and associated insurances) as well as at Vhi Group Services Limited (which provides shared services to the Vhi group of companies). My key responsibilities included defining and managing the implementation of the annual Vhi Compliance Plan the actives of which include risk-based monitoring, compliance approvals (training, advertising, marketing and customer communications), the provision of compliance advice to the business, error and complaint monitoring, the interpretation and impact analysis on the business of legislation within the Compliance Universe and the management and coordination of external audits, and Central Bank communications and inspections. I was also responsible for producing the quarterly reports on Vhi's compliance profile to the Group Risk Management and Compliance Committee, the monthly reports to the Management Board of Vhi Healthcare Limited and the quarterly report to the Board of Vhi Healthcare Limited.

I was responsible for the design and delivery of lectures for staff completing the Diploma in Private Medical Insurance/Accredited Product Advisor qualification. This role also involved the design of student learning aids such as presentations, notes and podcasts as well as administration of the Vhi Healthcare Moodle e-learning platform. As a Learning & Development Specialist I was also responsible for the delivery of product, process and leadership training programmes throughout the organisation.

Working as part of the training team I was responsible for the planning, development and delivery of training programmes for Contact Centre staff. These programmes ranged from product and process updates to the introduction of new CRM and claims systems.

Working in the Contact Centre I balanced resolving our member's queries quickly while delivering an excellent customer experience. I dealt with all types of queries from those in relation to a member's entitlement on their plan, queries with their account or payment method, new products and services we launched, claims queries, new sales and the retention of existing business.
