FLEET is a network of experts working on security and cooperation in wider Europe through regular gatherings with policy makers and the development of policy recommendations. The current focus is on post-war scenarios and the future of East-West engagement. In this context, I look at possibilities for renewed cooperation in the Arctic.

Part of the Oxford Transitional Justice Research group at the Faculty of Law. Working on the project 'Best Practices and Strategies for Outreach to Affected Communities in the Transitional Justice Context', which focuses on international crimes prosecutions in nine jurisdictions across the world. I am responsible for the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.

Managed all European transport-related files for a while. In this capacity I had to coordinate the Belgian position that would be defended in the Council. This included bringing all Belgian stakeholders around the table and facilitating the negotiations. Also worked extensively on COMPET-related files incl. the Net-Zero Industry Act, the Critical Raw Materials Act, Critical Raw Materials Partnerships with African countries (RW, RDC, ZM), the Chips Act and the Economic Security Strategy. Also worked on cyber-related files such as the AI Act, the AI Convention (Council of Europe) and data privacy regulation vis-à-vis the United States. For these files, I wrote multiple background notes, prepared and attended coordinations to define the Belgian position, wrote speaking points for the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended talks and negotiations with the United States, etc.

Regularly following and writing reports on debates of the EU parliamentary commissions and the plenary sittings about various topics. Attending the General Affairs Working Group in the Council and writing reports about the meetings. Engaging in other more ad hoc and organisational tasks such as organising briefings for MEPs and their assistants before each plenary sitting. Helped the Human Rights and International Trade team as well. In this capacity, I researched transatlantic trade, Children and Armed Conflict and represented Belgium at the Board of Governors meeting of the European Endowment for Democracy.

Policy research project on how to improve the workings of the OSCE with a focus on building peace. Our project was about youth inclusion in peace-building initiatives in the Western Balkans, with Kosovo as a case study. Our findings were presented to the OSCE leadership and several ambassadors in Vienna.

Analysed Russian foreign policy, attended meetings and took notes, prepared reports, analysed Russia-Turkey relations and Russia-Japan relations. Monitored developments in the four jurisdictions: Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Uzbekistan. Witnessed the unfolding of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Experienced the impact of sanctions on daily life.My internship unfortunately got cut short because of the current crisis in Ukraine. I stayed in Russia until 19 March 2022 but was originally supposed to stay until 14 May 2022.

Assisted in client representation at the highest diplomatic and EU-levels. Worked on the chemicals mandate. Also updated and edited a book on EU lobbying.
