I led corporate affairs for the Flutter Group during one of the most dynamic and turbulent times in the business' history spanning the merger with The Stars Group, the Covid pandemic and significant regulatory change which was hugely challenging in some markets (e.g. UK and much of continental Europe) while opening up dramatically in other markets - notably the USA. The role spanned not only all aspects of Group comms but also effectively incorporated the UK and Ireland market lead role reflecting the geography of the Group.The role had broad scope of responsibility through a combination of direct line management and partnership working which meant I was involved in all aspects of media relations (including financial PR for a busy corporate development programme as well as regular results announcements), public and regulatory affairs, annual report production (overseeing a new look & feel), online content development (including a new website), social media engagement, advising marketing and commercial colleagues on reputation risk, overall message and corporate brand development, ESG, internal comms and senior colleague advice.

At the agency I split my time between senior level client work and running the agency. While I was Managing Director and then CEO, the agency gained Laureat and then Master status in the Great Places to Work Survey in the FT for consistently appearing in the top 25 best employers list every year. I also led the expansion of FH from a solely domestic agency to one with its first office overseas (in New York).In client work I focused on strategy and planning to ensure reputational shift or behavioural change was achieved using whichever combination of media, digital, social, public affairs or internal channels were needed. In crisis and issues management situations I provided strategic and operational advice to CEOs and communication directors - including 24/7 support in acute crisis situations. I worked with multi-nationals and other significant institutions in sectors from fmcg, financial services, oil & gas, aviation, health, food and drink and the public sector.
