About Fionnuala Braun

As a multidisciplinary historian, I focus on bridging the gap between humanities and social sciences. I bring a wide variety of research skills, including exceptional writing and data synthesis abilities, interview coding and previous experience with transcriptive AI technology, and knowledge of research practices in both the history and community health and epidemiology departments. My current work focuses on collecting and analyzing data concerning fluctuations in trust between the public and healthcare practitioners in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. My work will also be featured in an upcoming article on the experiences of individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic in Saskatchewan. My proposed MA thesis, entitled "The Arcadian Self: Redefining Queer Socio-Sexual Identities in 1950s France" explores the overlaps between "sexual" and "respectable" behaviours in homosexual groups on the cusp of social emancipation. It will employ a cultural history approach that defines these individuals and organizations as products of their cultures - dynamic entities that shifted and changed to make room for multitudes of sexual expressions within a culture that has previously been historicized as solely conservative.
