At ECOH I worked in the geoscience department to asses subsurface environmental contamination. My skills in backend development allowed me to streamline our data entry process by automating repetitive tasks like copying and pasting laboratory data into excel worksheet templates. As part of this initiative I created a Ruby program which would read/parse PDF files and dump the data into Excel format with a predetermined template. This significantly reduced the amount of work required to generate reports for clients.

This position was my first taste of real world programming, in which I created 2D graphs using Python to visualize field data. I also conducted statistical analyses of data I collected using Matlab. This data was either used in my thesis work or contributed to the overall research program.
