Warehouse Manager/Counter Sales

Shipping Manager
As Shipping Coordinator and Team Lead for this fast-growing furniture manufacturer, it was my responsibility to coordinate all means of shipping product regionally, nationally, and internationally. My daily shipments were a mix of LTL and TL loads, and I worked with many of the regional and local carriers on a daily basis including USF Holland, Zip Xpress, and Conway Freight as well as Inontime and Same Day. For our international shipments, I have used FedEx International for parcel shipments and a few international freight carriers and brokers to meet these needs. As our business ran on a just-in-time basis, this was a fast-paced environment, and I was relied upon to make sure our customers’ needs are met, with product arriving on time and in good condition. I scheduled our carriers using both online and phone methods, and I grew a good working relationship with all my various contacts as well as my coworkers. As Team Lead, I was responsible for leading the Shipping Team to meet daily and monthly on-time delivery goals, maintaining a clean workspace and following all shipping procedures. My duties also required me to work with Quality Control on continuous improvement of shipping procedures, and to communicate with Customer Service on individual job statuses as jobs moved through the production process.
Shipping Receiving Clerk
As the shipping and receiving clerk for an international conveyor belt manufacturer, I was responsible for packing and shipping all final products to our customers and other facilities. I used UPS Worldship, as well Fed Ex’s online system to ship small parcel packages both domestic and international. I communicated with several logistics companies to schedule LTL shipments, as well as contacting freight carriers such as Con-Way, Dayton, and R&L personally to schedule pick-ups. When possible, I used various carriers’ online services for scheduling and obtaining rate quotes in an effort to be more efficient with my time. Our shop utilized both stand-up and sit-down forklifts, and I am proficient and licensed for both, as I need to use them in carrying out my daily duties of loading/unloading freight from trucks, stocking supply materials in rack systems, and carrying and weighing palletized and some loose material for shipment. Daily paperwork was filed, submitted to our office manger, and filled out per our procedures. My work area is always neat and organized, and I work well with my managers and other staff in the shop.
Front Desk Agent
My position as front desk clerk for this national chain offered me an opportunity to use my interpersonal skills on a daily basis. As the “face” of our hotel, I was responsible for checking in guests, answering questions and phone calls, making reservations, and making our guests feel at home. I worked all of the shifts available in the hotel: morning, after noon/evening, and overnight. As a night audit clerk, I was responsible for running the End of Day reports, closing out all credit card transactions, and filing these reports for the general manager’s use the next day. Guest safety and satisfaction were my main goals, as well as presenting a clean and welcoming environment for our guests. I communicated with maintenance and housekeeping staff members to help achieve that goal.
Counter Sales
In my eleven years with this wholesale electric supply house, I held many duties. My first position was as a delivery driver, where I picked, packed and delivered material to our contractors and local business customers. I was responsible for filling out a driver’s log and order sheets, measuring and cutting lengths of wire, loading and unloading my truck, and delivering orders in a timely and friendly manner. I moved to counter sales later in my time with Standard Electric. As a counter sales clerk, I took orders by phone and fax as well as in person, quoted small jobs to contractors and did basic office filing and faxing. I communicated with our various vendors for pricing quotes and help answering my customers’ questions. As part of my duties in both positions, I was responsible for most of the shipping and receiving for the branch. I used UPS for small parcel shipments to our various other branches throughout Michigan and to some customers, too. I received all of the shop’s deliveries from our vendors, checked them in and put them into stock. I used a forklift for some of my duties such as loading and unloading semis, placing reels of wire stock on a rack system, and moving pallets of material to various areas of the shop.
