Julie is a retired career philanthropy leader recognized for her outstanding ability to guide, inspire and motivate boards of directors and teams to raise major and principal gifts effectively, ethically and sustainably. She is known for her sensitivity to the unique roles, needs and values of board members, donors, constituents and stakeholders. Julie led the Oregon Zoo Foundation as Executive Director, since 2017. In her community life, she is past chair of the board of Clackamas Repertory Theatre, past president of the Oregon & SW Washington Association of Fundraising Professionals. In 2020 she was elected Mayor of the City of Wilsonville, Oregon. For 42 years, in her professional life, Julie has led major gift fundraising programs in the charitable sector focusing on youth development, education, health care and conservation.   I ran for the office of Mayor of Wilsonville in 2020. I had experience as a member of the City Council after being elected to a four year term (2013-2017). Due to full time work demands, I did not run again in 2017. But when the mayor position came open in 2020, I answered the call and decided to take the time & risk to run for Mayor. Thanks to a team of dozens dedicated volunteers and a core team 12, I was elected by a strong margin. The year started right in the middle of the pandemic. Then, and still, I hold a time intensive full-time job to which I am very devoted & invested. A surprise, unexpected benefit of being an Oregon Mayor, is meeting other Mayors also invested in quality of life for their communities and for our State.After I took office Jan. 2021: all city council & city committee meetings were run remotely, mostly on weekday evenings- continuing in remote mode for the first 18 + months. I ran the meetings from from my home with multiple screens, mice, cords & lights. It’s been one of the most demanding, intense, rich and educational experiences of my life.
