After spending a semester reporting for The Guardsman, and running the multimedia section, I decided to take on the reigns of the newspaper itself. The Guardsman EIC role is a paid position, as well as a City College laboratory class.As Editor in Chief, I was responsible for doing more reporting than I was doing just as a reporter. I had to find the stories that would guide my news editor and reporters, as well as doing additional reporting on my reporter’s stories.I led a crew… Show more After spending a semester reporting for The Guardsman, and running the multimedia section, I decided to take on the reigns of the newspaper itself. The Guardsman EIC role is a paid position, as well as a City College laboratory class.As Editor in Chief, I was responsible for doing more reporting than I was doing just as a reporter. I had to find the stories that would guide my news editor and reporters, as well as doing additional reporting on my reporter’s stories.I led a crew of seven section editors, such as News, Culture, Sports, Multimedia, Production and Advertising. As EIC, I performed a little bit of all duties, flexing my business, layout, and management skills.Past the seven section editors, is the fluctuating team of 10-15 reporters. We frequently get temporary reporters from the journalism classes around City College, in addition to our core stable of writers, photographers, and videographers. I would lead the classes Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays and aid them in their stories.Lastly, I couldn’t ever stop writing and shooting video. Even while acting as EIC, I wrote usually at least one story per an issue, as well as live tweeting news events under the @SFBreakingnews and @FitztheReporter handles, and under youtube.com/theguardsmanonline.Under my watch as EIC we uncovered the following stories:major under-enrollment of students in over 30 shared governance committees at the college, reported on the first ever undocumented student scholarships at CCSF (and perhaps the nation), uncovered underperformance of the schools’ Chief Technology Officer related to a computer virus attack that caused a nation wide scandal, was the first to break the news of the current Chancellor’s early retirement due to grave illness, covered Occupy Oakland tear gassing when major news outlets had left for the night, and personally uncovered that a victim of a quintuple homicide near school was a City College of San Francisco student Show less

2005- 2007Summary:At UthTV I edited many short episodes from various internet series that the company produced. The now defunct company focused on short, under ten minute pieces by youth and for youth.One such series was “Grind and Glory,” which was a web series before it was a feature documentary.
