As an independent expert in conflict resolution and negotiation, I help people and organizations navigate high-stakes situations and build sustainable dialogue. With over 15 years of experience in some of the world’s most volatile regions, including the Middle East, Central Africa, and Europe, I specialise in facilitating processes that de-escalate tensions, rebuild trust, and create actionable agreements.My work spans diverse environments—from high-level negotiations in corporate boardrooms to addressing human rights challenges and fostering cooperation between governments, NGOs, and private sector entities. I tailor conflict resolution strategies to the unique needs of each situation, enabling clients to effectively manage complex, often life-critical, negotiations.In 2008, I co-founded the Dialogue Advisory Group, where I served as deputy director until 2022. During this time, I was involved in the facilitation of successful disarmament processes in Northern Ireland (2010, IRA splinter group) and the Basque Country (2010–2017), and was deeply involved in negotiations in Iraq and the Great Lakes region of Africa amongst others, navigating some of the world's most challenging armed conflicts.Want to know what it’s really like? In my training sessions, you get to play out real cases I’ve personally experienced, bringing complex conflict scenarios to life so you can learn through practical application.I am also the author of Disarmed (2024), a reflection on my experiences as a peace mediator. In addition to my practical work, I offer bespoke training programs and workshops on conflict resolution, negotiation, and leadership. I also lecture at the University of Amsterdam’s Conflict Resolution and Governance Master’s Program, where I share insights on peacemaking strategies that apply to both international contexts and day-to-day conflicts.Currently, I serve as an independent facilitator for ABN AMRO’s Human Rights Remedy Mechanism and sit on the advisory council of Fight for Humanity. In 2024, I was honored to receive the Dutch Negotiation Prize. My work is driven by a deep commitment to fostering peace, social cohesion, and collaboration, helping organizations and individuals resolve conflicts, improve relationships, and navigate complex negotiations and leadership challenges.
