I prefer live recording in a controlled environment with overdubs where necessary. I was fortunate enough to learn recording from Eddie Ciletti, who produced, engineered (and did repair and engineering), and taught for many years around the country including at Atlantic Studio in NYC, MCI in Florida, keyboard tech for Hall and Oats, Professor at IPR and Music Tech. He's taught me well and I could do none of this without his instruction. In my space I try to create a Studio B atmosphere where I work closely with the musicians and we shoot for 80% live recording and then overdub. I utilize an Antelope Audio Orion Interface and an Otari MX5050 8 track tape machine. We can run Pro Tools 12, Reaper, or Logic Pro X. For outboard gear I tend to rely on an LA-2A and 1176 during tracking, "American style" preamps with transformers, Roland Space Echo Re-150 and numerous spring reverbs. The studio is called Blumlein because I prefer to do drum overheads using the Blumlein technique with ribbon mics and it has afforded me a signature tone at this current address. Rates negotiated by project or hourly.
