Profile bio

About Thomas Forner

Throughout 15+ years of diverse professional experience as a finance director and FP&A business partner, in the e-commerce and digital media sectors, and within both start-up and large organisations, I have proudly built a modus operandi to deliver the highest-quality output, based on three key pillars:1. Commercial acumen – understanding the drivers of a business is something I have been passionate about since my business school years, and as reflected at the time by my choices of internships in the market research and management consultancy fields. I help businesses to understand the KPIs and metrics that truly matter, build financial models, budgets/forecasts and reporting around them, and support Executives with their decision making.2. Collaboration – to me this is the most fundamental component to achieve the best results all around, but also to nurture the most enjoyable work environment. I achieve this through building trust by doing what I say, and by being open and sharing, from a word of thanks to difficult constructive feedback; through exercising mindfulness and putting myself in other people’s shoes, leading to being comfortable with giving the benefit of the doubt and focusing on building rapport; and simply, through having fun with colleagues while helping them and celebrating our shared successes.3. Efficiency – we all know hours in the day are limited, so being able to work efficiently and on the right things is key to maximising my personal contribution and self-fulfilment at work. My approach: every time possible, I prioritise ad-hoc verbal conversations over emails and meetings; I work at a fast and furious speed in Excel; I hold ‘keep it simple’ as a key principle; I plan and anticipate, and I learn new ways to operate and come up with creative solutions when plan A is going to take too long; what's more, I am a ‘Getting-Things-Done’ practitioner, which means nothing gets missed or forgotten about, tasks are being managed quickly, and this is all done with minimum effort and stress.I am gratified that through those principles I have secured most of my new roles through my network. That people I have worked with want me to work with them again and trust me with ever-growing responsibilities, that is my proudest achievement. The icing on the cake: my experiences have all been in super exciting, growth-focused digital organisations where I have been able to explore more than a dozen business models including e-commerce, subscription-based video streaming (SVOD), video gaming, and digital ads.

Listed skills include Financial Modeling, Financial Analysis, Project Management, E Commerce, and 18 others.
