Hyaluronic Acid Binding Sperm selection‘Increasing live births and reducing miscarriages’HABSelect is a large, randomised study assessing the effectiveness of a new method of sperm selection for ICSI by prior hyaluronic acid binding, in couples undergoing ICSI treatment. It has two components; a clinical trial and a parallel laboratory based investigation.Recruitment for the study has now ended. 3238 couples were recruited via 16 fertility clinics throughout the UK from December 2013 to July 2016. Follow-up will continue until the last pregnancy outcome is known. The results of the trial will be published in Autumn 2017.The study is a collaboration between the University of Leeds (UK) and its partners, supported by the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit, Queen Mary University London (UK) and is funded by a UK National Institute of Health Research Efficacy and Mechanisms Evaluation (NIHR-EME) grant.
