Hi, I’m Forrest Collins. I am an experienced iOS app developer, designer, enthusiast, and I run a Scrum/Agile-influenced mobile app development business. I also host a meetup called Taps & Apps, where folks at any skill level may network or work on their projects. Simply put, I enjoy working with people to bring their ideas to life and solving problems that move the world forward. I work by engaging in conversation and forming relationships with people, while listening and learning to fine tune concepts and discover new opportunities. By focusing on people, their specific needs, and the right strategies, I minimize risk and ensure great user experiences. The way I work is by making products that adhere to the best design and development principles, while researching and learning from target markets, and offering simple solutions to complex problems. I have developed and published 8 iOS apps and have managed clients such as Collins Computing, Vector Steel Inc, Pro-Line Racing, the National Emerging Threats Initiative & HIDTA government sector, a fitness trainer, and Sanctuary Church. In addition, I have powered numerous database-driven and social applications such as clones of Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter using Google's, Amazon’s, and Facebook's database services. Although it can be hard work, I find solving problems and troubleshooting challenges enjoyable. Currently, I have a degree in Software Engineering in which I have learned and applied many technical skills such as the agile approach to software development, psychology of UI/UX design, database design and management, and putting object-oriented programming principles into practice.All in all, I value people and the big picture, not just the code. My personal interests include soccer, photography, art, and skateboarding. If you’re looking for an RC track, shop, or the right tires, use the Pro-Line app. This app proposes a solution to a common problem competitive RC car hobbyists frequently complain about, which is not knowing what tires work best for a specific track. Additional features include track and shop creation, advanced searching, directions, in-app tire purchases, and much more.• Worked with and managed multiple clients to gather software requirements. Created proposals, contracts, and invoices.• Geocoded and Reverse-geocoded addresses using Google’s Geocoding and Google Maps API. Also used Google’s Places API.• Used Google’s Firebase and Firestore realtime backend database to store and update data in realtime.• Used Algolia backend as an elastic search solution for Firebase’s substring search limitation.• Implemented user account creation, in-app phone call, in-app email, GPS directions, searching and filtering, HTML and JSON parsing, caching data for offline use, an admin portal, and track/shop creation forms.• Implemented multiple third party libraries and frameworks such as Geofire (for geo-hash queries and location-based queries), and Realm for local storage.• Wrote Terms of Use and Privacy Policy updated for GDPR. -

In the app, pastors can ask a “Q of the Day” to stir conversation among church members and view their valuable feedback. Users register by email and select the church they attend. This determines the “Q of the Day” submitted by that church’s pastor. Every time a user refreshes their profile, a new, random bible verse is displayed (pulled from the Digital Bible Platform API). Users can make posts to share what is going on with their lives, follow other users, comment on posts, hashtag posts, @address users, flag other user’s posts (if inappropriate content), delete their own posts, search for users, search popular posts, and edit their profiles; all for the sake of establishing a better community outside of church.
