My responsibilities included ensuring that the maintenance of the trackless fleet was done. Some of the main work included a headgear upgrade, surface silos, the construction of a rock winder, installation of pipes in the shaft, a monorail installation, conveyor belts, main ventilation fan station and the electrical reticulation. -

I carried out all the legal duties of the engineer and managed the engineering function on various shafts on Impala. These conventional vertical shafts are equipped with machinery such as winding plant, main ventilation fans, compressor station, refrigeration plant, main pump station, battery powered locomotives, electric winches and an electrical reticulation. All project work on these shafts during this period was executed under my direction. During my period at 14 Shaft, major project work was included in my portfolio as the shaft was still under construction. -
