When I was 19, I decided to venture away from my picturesque and friendly tourist town I called home in northern Michigan. I knew I wanted to help others; I just wasn't quite sure where, whom, when, and in what capacity. I wanted to serve and educate others for the greater good. Advocate for others to advocate for themselves. I knew true growth came from stepping outside one's "comfort zone," including, but limited to: personal morals, family/community traditions, cultural and religious beliefs, societal norms, and interpersonal experiences.
