About Dan Frame

Mechanical Design Engineer with over 8 years of progressive experience designing, prototyping, testing and verifying various mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. Graduate of Drexel University’s College of Mechanical Engineering with a dual concentration in Biomechanics and Structural Mechanics. The most prominent skills that I obtained during my studies include an in-depth understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Manufacturing Processes (DFA/DFM) and 3D Modeling techniques (ProE Wildfire/Creo). In addition to the knowledge gained in the classroom, I acquired hands-on experience using CNC machines, end-mills, lathes and welders (Spot, Arc, TIG and MIG). My knowledge and experience in engineering and new found interest in medical devices was put to use for my Senior Design Project. A local surgeon proposed an idea for a laparoscopic device to join the Common Bile Duct and Small Intestine after Pancreatic Surgery to replace the Whipple Procedure. I led a diverse team to design, analyze, manufacture and test our design, ultimately delivering a fully functional and patent pending design.After graduating I made the decision to move across the country and pursue a career in mechanical engineering working for GE Healthcare's Surgery division. This opportunity helped hone my design skills and expose me to the various standards and regulations found in the medical device field including the FDA 510k process, 21 CFR, ISO 10993 and 13485, IEC 6061-1 and the RoHS directive to name a few. My career at GE gave me the expertise to excel in anything from Supplier Management to releasing design changes to coming up with NPD concepts. The past 8yrs with GE Healthcare has given me a diverse perspective into the Medical Device market and experience with the tasks and milestone that must occur to get a reliable and cost effective design to market in a quick, effective and compliant manner.
