Passionate about tourism in regional outback Western Australia, I’ve had the immense privilege of building and growing Wooleen Station, an award-winning eco-tourism business known for its regenerative agriculture and authentic outback experiences. As Wooleen’s Managing Director, I oversee all aspects of the station ranging from recruitment and bookkeeping to hospitality and marketing.Dedicated to facilitating growth in the Gascoyne-Murchison region, I currently serve as the Deputy Chair of Australia’s Golden Outback (AGO), a Regional Tourism Organisation representing 54% of Western Australia. In this role I’m involved with destination marketing and development, developing and launching tourism strategies and providing support to help achieve the AGO’s goals. I’ve served on the Board for 12+ years, as the elected member for the Gascoyne Murchison sub-region and now also Deputy Chair.In 2015 I set up Red Earth Marketing, a consultancy business to support small boutique businesses in regional Western Australia. Working with purpose-driven small business owners, I apply my tourism and hospitality expertise to help them build their brand, establish a media presence and develop a marketing strategy aligned with their business values.Storytelling is an important part of what I do, whether I share Wooleen Station’s history and vision or help develop the brand messaging for a small regional business. Human connection matters and plays a vital part in making people feel valued. My marketing approach focuses on building trust through hearing people’s stories and showing genuine care.My life’s motto is threefold:1. Kindness is easy2. A smile costs nothing3. Being genuine means a lotThis perspective on life pervades everything I do, whether I lead a guided tour at Wooleen or work with a small business owner who needs an expert to strategically join the dots and take their business to the next level.In June 2022, I won the West Australian Individual Excellence in Customer Service Award, recognising my role as an ambassador for the Western Australian tourism industry at the Perth Airport Tourism Awards. Tourism Australia chose me in 2022 as a Sustainability Storyteller. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation featured Wooleen Station in four episodes of Australian Story.It's an honour to be awarded for my efforts to champion Western Australia as a must-see tourist destination, but what matters to me is getting on with it and working with like-minded people to affect change that will impact the generations to come.
