Education:Prof. Bonelli received her veterinary degree from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2011, and a PhD in veterinary and agricultural sciences from the same university in 2015. During her PhD she spent almost 1 year abroad, mainly at the Large Animals Hospital at the Cornell University (NY, USA) increasing her experience in both clinical and research activities.She performed an Alternative Residency between the University of Bern and the University of Pisa and Bologna for the European College of Bovine Health Management (ECBHM), getting the Diploma on the 08th of September 2023. She is now a Diplomate ECBHM and a member of the European Board Veterinary Specialization (EBVS).Positions:She works as Associate Professor since 2022 at the University of Pisa (VET/08).Prof. Bonelli is the current Editor in Chief of the journal Veterinary Quarterly (ISSN: 1875-5941). Since 2022, she is the deputy director of the Agro-Environmental Research Center “Enrico Avanzi” of the University of Pisa, which includes a bovine research and teaching farm. Research:Her main research topics are about markers and biomarkers in different large animals’ conditions, especially inflammation due to bacterial origin (neonatal sepsis, mastitis, etc.); ultrasound and health assessment in ruminants and equine. She has authored 69 peer-reviewed publications (ORCID), she owns many oral interventions as invited speaker, co-authored a textbook on semeiotics and internal medicine in veterinary medicine and reviews manuscripts for a number of journals.Prof. Bonelli covers the role of principal investigator of a financed PRIN titled: Multi-omics characterisation of colostrum to develop a nutraceutical approach for improve health and resilience in large animals (2023-2025).Prof. Bonelli is the referent of the Task 5.3.6 of the Agritech, PNRR for the University of Pisa. The project is about Precision feeding of livestock to mitigate environmental impact and reduce antimicrobials utilization.
