Assisted attorney’s and worked with attorney’s in the Anchorage NARF office in the practice of the preservation of tribal existence; the protection of tribal natural resources; the promotion of Native American human rights; the accountability of governments to Native Americans; and the development of Indian law and educating the public about Indian rights, laws, and issues.

Facilitated community planning meetings for social/ economic/health improvement projects for the Tribe. Supervised department managers. Program development and staff training. This is a seasonal summer position that usually starts in June and ends late July or August. Each season starts with the preparation of commercial fishing vessels, nets, and outboard motors. When the salmon season begins, fishermen are expected to labor weeks on end with around 2-4 hours of sleep per day during the openings. On average we deliver 8000 pounds of salmon per day peaking up to 12,000 pounds per day. All work is manual labor, challenging your body and mind to tough out the season with little sleep, hard work, and severe ocean elements. All salmon caught are handpicked from the nets, separated by species by hand, bled, iced and placed into delivery bags that hold up to 800lbs.

Prepared Federal, State and Private grant proposals for the largest tribal health care organization in the state of Alaska. In this position I completed extensive research on a variety of different health and social issues involved within the Alaskan Native and American Indian community within the Southcentral Foundation (SCF) service area. I worked closely with SCF leadership, managers, and staff in various departments for proposal development which includes leading work group sessions, budget creation, goals and objectives and workplan components. Extensive work on complex Federal, State, and Private grant applications completed. Managed the development of successful grant applications.

Worked closely with Document Control to review and edit documents for respectable North Slope oil company. Preparation of Competency Tests for North Slope employees: Floorhands, Derrickmen, Pit Watchers, Electricians, Roustabouts, and Maintenance Crews. Competency tests were written for the safety of all Parker Drilling employees working in the North Slope.

Assisted the community of Togiak to develop a much needed restorative justice model for at risk repeat juvenile offenders. Office filing and general clerical work. Typed out legal documents for use in Tribal and State of Alaska cases. Worked closely with local law enforcement to ensure that offenders maintain compliance with Judge(s) Orders. Facilitated Wellness committee meetings and community meetings to get maximum community support for Tribal justice system in Togiak. Draft letters, maintained case logs, and typed meeting minutes. Ability to stay calm in hostile situations was a must for this position.

Assisted Conference Coordinator in all areas of planning and implementing Bristol Bay Regional Wellness Summit. Prepared entire agenda for Regional Wellness Summit. Responsible for travel and lodging logistics for conference participants and presenters.
