She is full Professor in Operations Research (MATH-06/A - Ricerca Operativa) at the Department of Management, Information and Production Engineering at the University of Bergamo (ITALY).Her research interests center on optimization of sequential decision problems under uncertainty using Stochastic Programming, Robust and Distributionally Robust Optimization. Her methodological research is mainly based on bounding and approximating this class of difficult decision problems. Moreover, she combines theoretical work with applications inspired by real-case problems provided by companies mainly operating in logistics, transportation, energy systems and medicine.Her research regularly features in peer-reviewed operations research journals (e.g., European Journal of Operations Research, Transportation Science, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Economics) and mathematical journals (e.g., SIAM Journal on Optimization, Journal of Optimization, Theory and Applications).Former research interests related to her PhD (supervisor Renzo L. Ricca), are on geometric, topological and energetic aspects of knotted filaments with publications in Proceeding of the Royal Society A, Physical Review E, Il Nuovo Cimento C, Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, etc.She currently serves as Associate Editor the following international journals: Transportation Science, Computational Management Science, EURO Journal on Computational Optimization, TOP, ITOR, Networks and RAIRO-OR.Since 2022 she chairs the EURO Working Group on Stochastic Optimization and the AIRO Thematic Section of Stochastic Programming. She has been in the board of Stochastic Programming Society as treasurer and secretary in the years 2016-2023.She is the principal investigator of the PRIN 2020 Project "Urban Logistics and sustainable TRAnsportation: OPtimization under uncertainTY and MAchine Learning ( ULTRA OPTYMAL)" granted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). She is currently coordinating the research group CQIIA-MatNet for teaching of mathematics and its applications of the University of Bergamo and is Deputy Director of the PhD program in Applied Economics & Management of the Universities of Bergamo and Pavia.She teaches and consults in the areas of Operations Research and Optimization.
