I had the luck to start my journey in bioinformatics at the very beginning of the so called NGS-revolution. The first time I analysed an Illumina dataset the reads were 36 bases long and there was no tool like bwa or samtools.In my three years as a PhD and during my postDoct I learned how to work and interact in heterogeneous groups (bioinformatics, wet-lab personnel, biologists, etc.). In this period I gained a lot of experience in computational biology and plants genetics, with particular focus on de novo assembly. I have been able to share with the scientific community many tools employed in several research projects.Currently I work as a core scientist at NGI-Stockholm (Science For Life Laboratory) where I am responsible to analyze customer samples and to set up new NGS-based projects.
