Electronics Engineer/Technical Lead

I led and managed the design and delivery of electronics sub-assemblies/sub-systems, from concept to finish. I was responsible for the technical requirements and specification of hardware, software and communication protocols. Further, I was responsible for V&V, including testing of hardware and software design, by assessing and liaising with outsourced electronic design and manufacture suppliers. My responsibilities also included:Overseeing the outsourced design of an high-power (1300W), high-voltage (4kV) SMPS for magnetrons. Conducting prototype testing to ensure hardware/software requirements were met. Analysing electronics/design failures providing technical reports, ensuring the design was amended accordingly, and resulted in improved device reliability.Analysing the thermal specification of the electronic sub-assemblies and supporting the product design to ensure cooling elements provide the necessary airflow to prevent premature failures.Horizon scanning for new technology allowing product interoperability. For example, using industry standard communication protocols as opposed to proprietary protocols. I delivered a DALI interface, including a control software allowing for local/remote control and enabling product integration into building management systems. I produced the key technical documentation to specify the hardware, software and communication protocols to work in conjunction with the proprietary control interface of the light engine. Following this I designed and implemented a DALI-based lighting control network for computer controlled grow rooms; a complete turnkey systems. Providing solutions as required during the development of the life cycle of project. I designed an electronic interface to operate rotating motors, and cooling fans to smooth inrush currents, and provide additional feedback signals from stalling motors.
