Given my research and professional experience, I am well prepared to teach courses on introduction to psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, research design and methods, and sensation and perception. I am strongly committed to teaching in a Hispanic Serving Institution and working in multicultural academic setting, such as that of my current institution, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In addition to my academic positions, I have worked too as a mental health professional, providing direct services to adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses at a Mental Health Mental Retardation Center. My main objective as a mental health professional has been to promote an improved quality of life by addressing barriers and strengths related to the recovery goals and wellness of the clients served.
