Currently I'm working into the Continental organization acting as Principal Staff Injection Molding & Tooling Expert , I'm a member of the Mechanical Design group in R&D supporting NAFTA region in the development, tracking and optimization of plastic components and injection molding tools for Body & Security business unit , applying more than 20 years of experience in plastics injection molding processes.Some of activities and responsibilities in my current position include but are not limited to: Acting as a mentor to the ME team on B&S division, supporting and coaching them during plastic component concept/design stages, performing molding feasibility analysis of parts. Performing Mold flow analysis of plastic components using the Autodesk Moldflow software providing recommendations for part moldability. Part of core team during SCR of plastic components, leading technical discussions with supplier in regard of tooling developments. Evaluating and providing the final release of the Mold design proposal from tool makers, working closely with them during tool construction performing the tool tracking maintaining key milestones dates and identifying areas for improvement in the tool construction. Participation during tool trials at tool maker locations (overseas i.e. China, Korea, Portugal) assuring that the tool and molded parts fulfills all requirements prior approves the transfer of tool to final molding location. Supporting IHM operation in the development of new tools, leading the introduction of new plastic technologies as 2k, IML, etc. Audit of tool makers to evaluate their technical capabilities, level of quality, among other points to introduce them into the approved global list. Providing support to our external supplier in optimization of injection molding processes following Scientific Injection Methodologies as the use of injection molding studies (i.e. Viscosity curve study, gate seal study, pressure drop, DOE for molding processes).
