Francisco Gil's career has combined academia with government service and the private sector; first as President and CEO of AVANTEL, and since February 2007 as President of Telefonica for Mexico, the 2nd largest mobile phone operator in Mexico with over 24 million costumers. He combines this responsability with the Presidency of the Boarf of Avanzia, since September 2014. As an academic, he has taught mostly at ITAM, his alma mater. He has also taught at Universidad Iberoamericana, El Colegio de México and the National University and has published extensively on subjects that range from taxation to monetary policy, as well as works related to government budget categories and crises management.
